We have often been asked as to what the letters on some of the registration plates of the trucks refer to..
One of them is really straight forward… M1 NOL – it read as Minoli from a distance…
The others, less so and we have had a few guesses over the
years…
All of the plates begin with L, they are either LM or LPM.
The founder of the company, the original Mr Minoli was Luigi – Luigi Peter Minoli hence the LPM or LM on the number plates.
So the registration plates are a nod to Luigi…
Although the company was founded by Luigi, it was his son Peter who saw the potential for tile, from the newly evolving Italian and Spanish tile production industry and gradually moved Minoli from being predominantly a mosaic and terrazzo company into one of the UK’s first tile distributors – but that is another story..
