Much like Minoli & Co Ltd, the James Bond film franchise has now been running successfully for over 60 years.
Last week on James Bond Day, which is now held annually on October 5th, fans celebrated the 60th anniversary of the World Premiere of the first James Bond film, Dr No, which was first screened on that day in 1962.
It’s also nearly ten years since our association with Aston Martin brand began, when we held initial discussions with the design team at Aston Martin Works for the supply of tiles for the showrooms and workshops at the brand’s Heritage Centre in Newport Pagnell. The Minoli Workshop Series of 20/20 silver-grey porcelain tiles was subsequently installed in 2013 for the refurbishment of what was the original Aston Martin production plant.
Since then, we have also supplied the wood-look Etic Series in the 22.5/90 format for their extended showroom and conference facility. Minoli Etic provides all the visual aesthetics of a natural wooden floor, but with the durability and low maintenance qualities of high-performance porcelain.
Aston Martin Works not only retails and services new and pre-owned Aston Martin cars, it also houses the Heritage Centre displaying historical references of Aston Martin’s products. The site is home to the world’s leading Heritage restoration workshop, where some of the most important cars in the history of Aston Martin have been repaired, serviced or totally restored.
Cars of note include various models used in the James Bond films, some of which are also prepared at Aston Martin Works prior to filming. Earlier this year on 29 September, an Aston Martin DB5 replica stunt car which featured in No Time To Die (2021) raised £2,922,000 for good causes in a charity auction at Christie’s to celebrate 60 years of the James Bond films.
Fans who want to recreate some of the films’ most iconic moments for themselves can still buy a limited edition DB5 Goldfinger Continuation series which features Bond-Inspired gadgets including a bullet resistant rear shield, simulated front machine guns and revolving number plates, full details of which can be found on the Aston Martin Works website here.
A belated happy James Bond Day to all 007 fans and we look forward to continuing our association with the brand in years to come.
