A Very Eventful Venue – Minoli London – The Surface Within

With its super-central location on George Street, Marylebone, W1, and gallery-style design, The Surface Within has provided the perfect venue for some of Minoli’s most prestigious, ‘hot ticket’ client events.

With headline co-hosts including superbike teams, art, design and public relations experts, and classic, luxury and performance car specialists, plus Minoli’s own product launches and parties, over the years we’ve enjoyed welcoming clients, suppliers and friends to enjoy some very memorable occasions and hospitality in this flagship facility.

It all started with the original grand opening of The Surface Within on September 12^th 2013, on the eve of the first day of trading, when over 150 guests enjoyed a lavish reception with Italian prosecco and canapés, a welcome address by Jonathon Minoli and a first chance to explore the Gallery, Presentation Suite, Studio and Retreat that make up this unique space.

As our go-to catering provider, that night delicious light-bites were prepared on site by the Head Chef of private members club, Home House on Portman Square, the location of Minoli’s last ten annual Preview and Christmas Events, and their catering team have since tantalised our tastebuds at almost every client occasion since. Our friends at Italian Continental Stores, also provided the prosecco, wine and refreshments at that and all our subsequent events, and we’re very thankful for those long-standing food and drink partnerships.

Setting a high standard from the beginning, on April 28^th 2016, The Surface Within, became the centre stage for guest speaker Paula Lent, Art Consultant and Director at Artmasters, and for the latest spring collections of Minoli’s porcelain tile ranges. At the ‘Start With Art’ event, Paula entertained guests with an enlightening talk on how art can add value and enhance the interior design of a new build development or renovation project, much like Minoli’s product offerings.

Next up and to mark the third anniversary of the Surface Within, was the ‘Supercars on George Street’ event, in association with Ferrari, and co-hosted by the team of H.R. Owen London, with three stunning Ferrari examples parked outside the showroom much to the delight of the guests and a multitude of passers-by. Owen Rothwell, Marketing & Digital Manager at H.R. Owen enthralled the audience with stories about Ferrari, the man, the legend, the history and the current range of road cars. Tricia Topping, Founding Director of Carlyle Consultants, then spoke to highlight the synergy in the products, Ferrari and the high-quality Italian porcelain tiles from Minoli.

Then from Supercars to Superbikes when on May 4^th 2017 we welcomed Paul Denning and the Crescent Yamaha World Superbike (now Pata Yamaha Prometeon WorldSBK) Team for ‘Superbikes on  George Street’, complete with their stunning championship machine and full race truck, which caused quite a commotion on the streets of Marylebone! Team Principal, Paul, gave an insight into the world of running a highly professional and competitive racing team on a worldwide platform, as well as integrating this with the operation of a very successful motorcycle retail business, encompassing several dealerships and leading franchises.

Staying on the automotive theme, also in 2017 to mark the 4^th anniversary of the opening, Minoli welcomed Max Girardo and the team from Girardo & Co to co-host the ‘Classic Cars On George Street’ event. This was a truly unique opportunity for invited guests to hear Max speak about the classic car market and the remarkable motors that are traded within. Also, to view the beautiful cars they brought along including a Ferrari F50, Lancia Delta Integrale and a Ferrari 365 Daytona. The evening was testament to the Girardo team’s flair and expertise and showcased some of the rarest motorcars in the world.

Also operating in the world of cherished and collectable classic cars are our friends at DK Engineering who, on 20^th September 2022, who delighted guests with another remarkable collection of automobiles. Founded by David and Kate Cottingham in 1977, at ‘A Night With DK Engineering’ their son James, Lead Acquisition Consultant for the firm, shared some fascinating insights about the DK company and the beautiful Ferrari’s, and other carefully selected collectable cars, that they restore and race. On display outside of the showroom were four stunning motorcars provided by DK and their clients including a Ferrari F40, a Porsche Carrera GT and two Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta Lusso models (of only 22 RHD examples ever built). These head-turners were not only admired at length by the invited guests, but also many passers-by.

It’s also worth mentioning that the showrooms and workshops at Crescent Yamaha, Girardo & Co and DK Engineering are all fully fitted with specialist porcelain tiles from Minoli’s collections, and you can read about these project stories by clicking of the respective links above.

At all these high-profile events with esteemed participants and presenters, as well as other anniversary parties, team and family gatherings, the facilities at The Surface Within on George Street have provided a perfect setting for Minoli’s events programme and we’re looking forward to hosting many more in the years to come.
