Alice Molloy Interiors specialise in inspirational and innovative interior design, creating visually compelling homes and thoughtful spatial solutions. Their collaborative ways of working ensure that designs are highly personalised and satisfy on both functional and aesthetic fronts.
A great example of this approach can be seen in the full refurbishment of a charming Chelsea residence, in Gunter Grove, London. Working closely with the main contractor, the brief for the project was to create a home with dual purpose – a ‘bachelor pad’ retreat from a long working day and a weekend entertainment space in which to host friends.
This is a substantial, semi-detached, period townhouse in the heart of SW10. Set over four floors, the accommodation comprises two spacious reception rooms, a master suite occupying a whole level with bedroom, ensuite and dressing room, two further bedrooms, a family bathroom and cloakroom. To the lower-ground floor is the open-plan kitchen / diner with carefully curated fixtures and fittings, signature lighting and double doors to a cosy courtyard.
The property already had a naturally good structure, so key to this project was cleverly enhancing the use of the space and emphasising some of the existing features. This included the redesign of the double reception (which was originally a kitchen) and creating a statement out of the central staircase using Farrow & Ball Pitch Black paint. Within Alice’s broader remit was the sourcing of the furniture, lighting and material finishes, which included Minoli porcelain tiles.
In the luxurious master ensuite bathroom, Minoli Marvel Calacatta Extra was used to great effect in a silk finish and 60/60 size. Across the floors, walls and to full height in the generous shower enclosure, this rectified, premium porcelain tile emulates Italian white marble with such authenticity. With a soft, shaded background, the delicate grey veining features touches of natural beige that are accentuated by the gold edging and brassware.
In the family bathroom, Minoli Marvel Statuario Select, again in a 60/60 dimension but with a polished / Lappato finish, brings a glamourous gloss to the floors and walls. With hints of silver and steel in the more pronounced patterning, this room expertly embodies the ‘bachelor’ theme with a black vanity unit, towel radiator, fixtures and trims.
