As recently showcased in the leading Icelandic interior design magazine – Hús og Híbýli – this beautiful Pimlico apartment, by Arna Maria Kristjansdottir of Arna Interior Design Studio, features several premium porcelain tile series from the Minoli Contemporary Collection.
With panoramic views of the River Thames, this harmonious living space merges creativity with functionality and, whilst distinctly metropolitan and modern, the atmosphere is calm and evokes a sense of tranquillity and rest.
The flat’s overall aesthetic is a seamless fusion of craftsmanship, art and new home technology. It is a space that invites creativity while providing the comforts of home, making it a truly unique residential project in the heart of London.
Bespoke sculptural furniture pieces, designed by Arna Interior Design Studio, are critical to the cohesive design. Take for instance the living room’s centrepiece fireplace and media unit. The fire surround, mantle and flat-screen frame are all created using Minoli Bravestone rectified porcelain, exactingly constructed from 75/150 sized slabs and precisely cut pieces. Twisted wood branches weave around the shelves, complementing the natural patterning of the quartzite-effect tiles, creating a fantastical and organic design.
Moving through to the fabulous, fully equipped kitchen, the meticulously matt surface of Boost White in a 75/75 format creates a flawless floor finish, against the delightful dark wood units and dramatic marble worktop. This kitchen demonstrates that small spaces can be beautifully designed and functionally rich, making it ideal for casual gatherings and intimate dinners.
The ensuite bathroom is a luxurious retreat, featuring an opulent, oval bathtub, a generous glass shower enclosure and a wooden vanity unit with a brown marble-inspired basin, all highlighted by a high-tech lighting scheme. The tiles chosen bring both energy and serenity to the space. The shower enclosure is clad in eclectic Cosmopolitan Amazzonite slabs in expansive 120/240 dimensions, providing uninterrupted, one-piece, floor to ceiling coverage. To complement but also create contrast, the floor and bath surround are finished in the Prism Series, with an almost cloud-like composition.
Lastly, through the entrance hallway and cloakroom, the striking marble effects of the Marvel Series have been applied to create a prominent pattern. Used as borders and inset panels, the silver-white shades of Carrara Pure, with the jet black of Nero Marquina, are also alternately presented in the Marvel Half Hex Cold Lappato mosaics, with visual impact.
