From Launch to Landmark – Minoli London – The Surface Within

The journey to establish Minoli London – The Surface Within – all started ten years ago today when we first opened the doors to the public on 13^th September 2013. As we now celebrate this landmark anniversary, we’re looking at the way the business has developed, with a burgeoning client base, an ever-expanding product portfolio of Italian porcelain tiles and beautiful new displays, all refreshed and updated for the anniversary event on Thursday 14^th and the London Design Festival 2023, which starts this Saturday 16^th.

The launch event was held on the eve of that original opening day on 12^th September when over 150 guests enjoyed a lavish reception with Italian prosecco and canapés, a welcome address by Jonathon Minoli and a first chance to explore the purposefully designed spaces the facility comprises:

The Gallery

Occupying most of the ground floor, this area is dedicated to product display and includes the reception, where you’ll always find a warm welcome from one of the Minoli team. With contemporary décor, featuring tile ‘mood-boards’ and back-lit graphics, your eye is drawn through to the rear display area. Here, immaculate room settings have been carefully presented to bring some of latest launch ranges to life, showing complementary combinations of floor, wall and mosaic tiles as you might imagine them in kitchens, bathrooms and living spaces. Between each are concealed sliding, large-scale panels featuring more from our carefully compiled collections and large format slabs.

The Presentation Suite

A slightly more formal space, it’s hear we often host design teams gathered around the boardroom table, mulling over choices and picking out selections for forthcoming projects. The room is fully equipped with audio-visual equipment, Wi-Fi and clever wall-mounted rails on which to stand mood-boards, site plans and (of course) tiles. There’s also a refreshments area and break out space with comfortable chairs for a moment of reflection.

This Surface Within is very much our clients’ London home for Minoli, and they are welcome by appointment to use the facilities to meet with, and present our products, to their own clients and colleagues.

The Studio

This is the creative space, situated on the lower-ground floor with a purpose-built workbench, on which to compare and contrast tiles from the sample library, and further room settings and display units. It’s also adjacent to our hospitality space, refreshments bar and galley where you’ll find freshly made coffee, a selection of soft drinks, and even the occasional glass of vino to help fuel the creativity! In short, the Studio is the ideal place to roll up sleeves and enjoy choosing from our Core and Contemporary Collections.

The Retreat

Last, but not least, The Retreat is a secluded haven from the hustle and bustle of the streets above. Of course, beautiful ceramic and porcelain samples adorn the walls, but this is first and foremost a space for relaxation! With low-level lighting and seating, sumptuous sofas and a wall mounted flat-screen TV, we’d welcome you to come and take the weight off after a busy day in the West End – whether on business or visiting for pleasure. There’s also desk-space and Wi-Fi in case you need to get online or catch up on e-mails, in privacy but amongst friends.

On that note, we’re looking forward to welcoming clients, suppliers and friends again to The Surface Within tomorrow evening as we celebrate the 10th anniversary of the opening. As well as many that will have attended the original opening event, we’ll also enjoy the company of the interior designers, architects, property developers, corporate clients and representatives from other local design businesses, whose custom and association we have enjoyed over the years since launch.

Having a dedicated facility and resource centre in the Capital has allowed us to offer the same high standards of customer service at this super-central location and we’re delighted to be frequented so often for design consultations, client meetings and specification sessions.

There’s always something new to see at Minoli London as the product portfolio is constantly refreshed with the latest designs and formats. Over the last two weeks, our teams have been busy installing updated displays including newly launched series from our Contemporary and Core Collections, stunning large format slabs in marble, stone and gemstone effects that enable seamless floor to ceiling coverage, beautiful but durable additions to the Outdoor By Minoli Collection and exquisite extensions to our Mosaic and Decor tile offering.

We’re also excited to be an Official Partner of The London Design Festival 2023, participating with an Open Studio Showroom as London is promoted as design capital of the world from 16^th-24^th September and visitors will also be able to enjoy the updated showcase of the Minoli product portfolio.
