The 42nd edition of the Cersaie International Exhibition of Ceramic Tiles in Bologna was in full swing last week from 22nd to 26th September. The event attracted industry professionals, journalists and private consumers looking to catch up on the latest market trends, industry news, and the innovations and new directions that will guide the world of interior and architectural design.
The history of the Cersaie Fair, held in Bologna – the capital city of the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy – spans over 40 years as the world’s largest tradeshow for porcelain and ceramic tiles and bathroom furnishings. The show regularly attracts 100,000 visitors, with over 600 exhibitors from organisations representing 25 countries, in 145,000 m2 of exhibition space.

Traditionally, Minoli attends Cersaie to meet with production partners and choose the new collections that will be first presented to our clients in December at our annual Preview event and then launched the following year. This year there were stunning new porcelain series with traditional and more contemporary styles and highlights included:
- Beautiful new collections of coordinating indoor and outdoor porcelain tiles and pavers, designed to deliver the fluidity of concrete effects and create connected transitions from inside to out.
- Some simply stunning metal-effect extra-large slabs, ideal for making a statement when cladding walls, with the look of silvery steel, bold brass and oxidised iron.
- Tantalising Travertine and stone replicas in porcelain, the result of detailed studies into the forms and features of this classic, characterful material. With smooth and three-dimensional surfaces, that amplify the elegance and create conversations between texture and light, these cutting-edge series will bring new opportunities for incorporating natural-look tiles into interiors.
- Next level marbles in the finest porcelain featuring richer colour combinations with which to realise the most creative interior design concepts. With unprecedented variety and versatility of format and finish, these new series are purposefully produced to set designers free in terms of both innovation and imagination.

- Wonderful wood-look collections with the most detailed and authentic representations of gorgeous graining and natural knots.
- The latest in small format designs in a kaleidoscope of colourways. In matt and gloss finishes, brick, square and 3D designs, the options for incorporating colours in contemporary and classic settings is unforeseen.
- Magnificent mosaics and décor pieces, carefully crafted to give the impression of 3D forms and delightfully detailed inlays of mixed toned marble-effects with which to create fascinating features on floors and walls.
Managing Director, Jonathon Minoli, joined Lucy Minoli and Daniel Abitabile, from our Corporate Client Accounts Team, at the event and they were very impressed by the new products showcased by the leading manufacturers. Also of note was the scale of the exhibitor stands and the innovative way in which the tiles were displayed to capture the imagination of the attendees.

Jonathon commented, “We’ve been thrilled to see first-hand the truly inspirational ranges that our leading production partners are bringing to market. The quality of design and manufacturing is unprecedented and the innovation we’re seeing in size and format is sure to appeal to our discerning client base of designers, developers and homeowners.
“The high demand for quality porcelain floor and wall tiles as today’s surface of choice is reflected in the impressive investment and attendance that we’ve seen at the show and there’s no substitute for seeing and touching the new products close-up and meeting the representatives from our production partners face-to-face.
We’re very much looking forward to launching the new series that we’ve selected to our professional, corporate, reseller and residential clients in the coming months.”
