Minoli porcelain tiles specified by 5mm Design for Rathbone Place refurbishment

Founded by Hameed Hani, 5mm Design Studio is named for its realisation of even the smallest detail and its focus on precision workmanship. Their approach is driven by passion and creativity to deliver interiors that evoke emotions and feelings, which is exemplified through this remarkable refurbishment project in Rathbone Place, London, W1.

The brief was to remodel the bathrooms of this prestigious apartment and create a light and luxurious lustre within the space. The client was initially drawn towards natural marble but for durability Hameed recommended marble-effect porcelain tiles from Minoli’s Contemporary Collections.

The Cararra Pure design from the Minoli Marvel Series proved the perfect choice, with its soft, subdued, silver-grey veining emulating that found in the most sought-after Italian marble. In 120/240 large format slabs, with the polished lappato finish, a seamless floor to ceiling surface was achieved on the walls and generous walk-in shower enclosure of one bathroom. In another, from the same specification, a one-piece bath panel helped retain the clean, crisp lines desired.

To the floors, a matt Marvel Grey Fleury 120/120 tile provided a subtle complementary contrast with its smoky, steely palette. The design was completed with bespoke vanity units, designed by Hameed and manufactured in house at the 5mm Design workshop, also featuring the Cararra Pure tile for a flawless finish. Throughout, the high gloss of these tiles delivered the illusion of space with their reflective qualities.
