There is a very good story, supposedly completely true about the time in the late 1960s when the American government was pushing NASA to put a man on the Moon.

The story relates to a visit to NASA by President John F Kennedy before the fantastic mission was completed.

The President was apparently Visiting the NASA headquarters and stopped to talk to a man who was holding a mop “ And what do you do?” asked the president. The Man, a janitor, replied “I’m helping to put a man on the moon, sir”

Every single person within NASA had it instilled within them that very part they played would result in the success or failure of the mission, this is a wonderful JFK anecdote and often quoted.
