First New 16t Truck Nears Completion
The first of our three new 16t DAF Trucks is nearing completion. Shown here freshly out of the paint shop is about to undergo its final inspection at the truck body builders, before being returned to DAF for the pre delivery inspection.
Chris, transport manager commented “ we are very excited now we have seen the first of the three new design trucks in painted finish, the next stages are to arrange the pre delivery inspection at DAF and then the sign writing, we are expecting to stay with the Minoli corporate identity, with a slight update to suit the new vehicles, much like we did with the 18t truck, M1 NOL”
With an upturn in business over the last few months Chris will be relieved to receive the additional capacity these truck will bring to the logistics fleet. “ there have been days in the first few months where the additional capacity of these three new trucks would have been very useful and as we enter what is always the start of our busy period I will be relieved to have what is in effect an additional 24 T daily capacity and on vehicles specifically designed for our urban deliveries”.

First of Three
The first of three new Daf 16t Chassis was brought to Minoli this week by DAF Trucks for inspection and approval prior to being sent to have the next stage of construction.
Minoli, planning for the remainder of 2012 and into 2013 has ordered with DAF Trucks, three new 16T Chassis of the LF Series Trucks.
Each of these trucks will have a purpose built “body” constructed over the coming weeks for our particular use by Ken Kerr Truck Body Builders who have been constructing truck bodies for Minoli for over 10 years. These new trucks are a further evolution of the design crated between Kerr and Minoli for the flagship Vehicle M1 NOL which went in to active service in 2011.
The three new vehicles will be in a striking Silver colour that will be sign written using the Minoli corporate identity, with an updated design to suit the new silver colour and new vehicle size considerably bigger than the fleet of 12.5 T trucks but slightly smaller than the 18 T M1 NOL.
This is a dramatic increase in delivery capacity, with the first of the three trucks expected to be completed and available for service as early as April with the second and third following on shortly.

Warehouse preparations prove well placed
During the summer of 2011, Chris and Douglas the warehouse and transport managers at Minoli, invested in snow clearing and ice prevention equipment for the Minoli distribution center and the fleet of vehicles. With the weather having become arctic over the last week it looks as though the preparations were put in place in good time.. last week temperatures in the Oxford area ( RAF Benson) dropped below minus 11 C and ice was a problem, especially in the mornings. The Minoli team ensured the vehicles were prepared for the cold and the roadways and yard were thoroughly salted.
With the forecast of snow for Saturday night, the team prepared the yard with grit and salt, to ensure the delivery fleet would be able to get on to the main roads this morning and get the 100 plus deliveries out to our clients.
Each driver was issued with a special snow spade and stock of salt and grit, just in case they find more snow during the days to come.

It’s a small world!
A former Export Manger for major Spanish manufacturing plant Keraben, has been spotted in Oxford. Ruben who was responsible for sales in the USA and south east Asia, left the company several years ago ( about the time of the Spanish recession!!) to come to England to study for an MBA. Now teaching Tennis in Oxford, one of his Pupils is Luca Minoli, son of Jonathon. Jonathon said “ its an amazing coincidence, Minoli was virtually the first export client for the factory 40 years ago and we still work with them today, I was talking about Spain to my sons tennis teacher and it transpired that he had worked with them for many years. Ruben said” its amazing such a small world, I knew then name of Minoli inside the factory but always assumed it was an Italian company”.

Minoli Gears Up To Deliver
For Minoli, excelling as a tile distributor is not just about getting products shifted from A to B, it’s about consistently meeting the needs and expectations of their clients.
Of course, the delivery fleet has always been an essential asset of the business and, when you cover nearly 600,000 miles per year, and have the capacity to deliver up to 60 tonnes or 4,000 square metres of tiles in a day, specialist vehicles are required, like the company’s new truck.
Managing Director, Jonathon Minoli said, “Our business is reliant upon transporting our goods to numerous very specific locations, but we aim to do so with the minimum environmental impact, maximum efficiency and the highest levels of client satisfaction. We’re constantly looking for ways to improve in all these areas, which is why we specifically commission our vehicles with special features”.
The latest addition, a DAF CF 65 18T, is fully Euro 5 Emissions compliant with an aerodynamic cab and body to reduce drag. This design, allied to the AS-Tronic gearbox, helps reduce fuel consumption and is kinder to street surfaces with certified ‘Road Friendly’ suspension.
Efficiency is also improved, with a payload of over 10,000 KG, representing capacity for 14 euro pallets, which means fewer separate trips to and from the Oxford distribution centre.
Once on the road, drivers often fulfil up to 15 deliveries per day, assisted by the 1,500 KG tail lift for ease of unloading and pinpoint kerbside drops. Live vehicle tracking helps accurately predict delivery times and the compact truck body with reversing camera is ideal for negotiating access onto tight development sites.
Jonathon added, “Several of these features have already been tested and the benefits proven on our existing fleet of six further 12.5 T and two 7.5 T DAF trucks, two Fiat Ducatos and a VW Transporter. For many of our clients our delivery team and trucks are the most tangible representation of our service commitment, so it’s vital they portray the right image by getting the job done efficiently and effectively”.
